Meet Andrew
Andrew graduated from Fresno State after 3.5 years with a BA in Political Science. During that time, he acted as the President of the Fresno State College Democrats and the Vice President of the Fresno State Student Unit for the League of Women Voters. This is where he discovered his love for helping those who need it. He attended a meeting at the Mexican Consulate in Fresno to learn about immigrant rights, marched alongside others to protest injustice, and fought against raising student fees. Andrew enjoys nature, from hiking in Yosemite to driving around the foothills, anything with a view and breeze makes him happy.
Meet Thomas
Thomas was born in Modesto and raised in rural parts of Stanislaus, and later, Mendocino Counties. He went to Humboldt State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism with a double minor in Political Science and Native American Studies. During and after college he worked in radio, substitute teaching, and eventually founded nonprofit, Valley Improvement Projects (VIP), which advocates for local social and environmental justice issues such as clean air and water, sustainable community development, and tenant’s rights. While at Drivon School of Law, he was elected Vice President of the school’s Black Law Student Association, President of the Student Bar Association, married longtime girlfriend, and became the proud father of two boys. Thomas currently serves on the board/steering committee of 2 nonprofits, as the Communications Chair of the Stanislaus County Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and as the Stanislaus County representative of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District’s Environmental Justice Advocacy Group.
Meet Veronica
After taking a 15 year break, Veronica decided to enroll at Humphreys in the summer of 2017. She previously attended Delta College off and on. She is currently working at the Sheriff’s office and feels that her communication with peers and the public has greatly improved due to her educational experience. Her daughter has been her motivation to complete her studies, and has witnessed her daughter eager to continue learning also. Veronica enjoys sewing, painting, and doing other creative projects with her daughter. She is also interested in helping rebuild vintage cars with her husband and going on hikes with her family.
Meet Ramon
Ramon grew up in Atwater, California and graduated from Atwater High School. As a child, Ramon loved video gaming and playing sports with his three sisters. He loves playing and watching sports, and does not regret his decision from the third grade to become a loyal and faithful San Francisco 49ers fan. After high school, he served in the military. He was a corpsman in the Navy for 5 years and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina with 3/2 Kilo Co. He was deployed to Africa in 2004 and to Iraq in 2005 and was part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a proud Purple Heart Veteran. At age 23, Ramon married his wife Joana, who has mastered his family’s mouth-watering enchilada recipe. He is a proud father of three kids and currently enjoys fishing–but wishes he had more time to develop this passion.
